Digital Printing

What is a Giclée

Giclée is a high resolution digital print made from an archival ink and media combination. Giclée is a recognized fine art print category like lithographs and serigraphs, and is considered the world's preferred technique for reproducing original works of art and for printing digitally created art and fine art photography. Giclée printmaking has opened up new markets for one-of-a-kind and short run limited edition artwork.

Are Giclée Prints Better?

Giclée prints look and feel like original art.

Since Giclée printmaking is digital throughout the entire process, there is much more control of color and greater opportunity for interaction. The process allows the reproduction to be printed with thousands more colors, shades and hues than traditional offset printing methods. Giclée provides much higher resolution and more reproducible colors than other printmaking techniques.

The Giclée Process

Prints by Renoir Fine Art are produced using a ENCAD™ NovaJet® thermal inkjet printer by Encad™, Inc a Kodak company, to bring you the highest quality digital reproductions available anywhere in the world today.

The Giclée Media

Renoir Fine Art uses premium canvas for its giclée on canvas, as well as other media, including watercolor papers and glossy photographic papers, which have been primed for the Giclée process.

What are the Advantages of Giclée Printing?

Once an image is archived, additional reproductions can be made with minimal effort and cost. Thus, the upfront cost of mass production is eliminated and printing is done on demand.

Another tremendous advantage to Giclée printing is that artwork can be reproduced to almost any size and on various media, giving the ability to customize prints for a specific client.

Renoir Fine Art uses the Encad™ printing process to bring you the highest quality digital reproductions. Each print is crafted on demand exclusively for you.

Whether your print is on fine art paper or canvas, you are sure to appreciate the brilliant high-resolution imaging and maximum color fidelity and stability provided by the specially formulated, long-lasting inks and museum quality protective coating of this process.

What are the frames made of?

Renoir Fine Art Inc. offers the highest quality frames that are made to last, withstand heat, and other elements which might cause the frame to buckle or damade. Our frames come in a variety of materials — solid wood with various finishes, metal, molded plastic, and composites. The reality is that it's the finished look that matters, and unless you are looking at a cross section, it's often hard to tell what material a frame is made of. All framing is done by a certified picture framer using the latest techniques in stretching and framing to ensure the artwork remains in optimum condition for years to come.
